Release of 22 Endangered Birds in Prince Mohammed bin Salman Wildlife Reserve

The National Center for Wildlife, in cooperation with the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Wildlife Protection Authority, released 22 endangered wild birds, including 19 houbara bustards and two brown eagles.

Dr. Mohammed Qurban, the CEO of the National Center for Wildlife, explained in a statement that such releases are part of the center’s programs to reintroduce locally endangered species, restore biodiversity in our natural environments, promote environmental balance, and establish the concept of environmental sustainability, which is a top priority for the center.

He emphasized that the specialized centers in the Kingdom are on par with their international counterparts in breeding and reintroducing endangered species into their natural habitats following the highest accepted standards.

He also pointed out that the center conducts research, monitors, and tracks biodiversity in protected areas using modern techniques to track wildlife populations, document information related to each reserve, collect data, and understand the potentials and risks that wildlife faces.
