Wildlife... Concludes the National Professional Standard Workshop for Rangers
The National Center for Wildlife concluded today a five-day workshop for building the National Professional Standard for Naturalists, which aims to develop the profession of wildlife guides to protect the natural resources of the reserves with standards that meet international standards. The international standard refers to 29 basic professional competencies, while the results of the National Standard Workshop reached more than 121 professional tasks.
The workshop was attended by Chris Gillies, President of the International Union for Nature Guides, and 24 Saudi experts and practitioners, in addition to two international experts. During the workshop, the standard was prepared in the approved language format for professional standards, and all participants reviewed the standard’s items. The best experts in the workshop, six Saudis and two international experts, were chosen to prepare a task analysis according to the procedures required to implement the standard tasks and the degree of difficulty and measurement of execution, in preparation for adopting the standard for the wildlife guide profession by a national committee.
The National Standard for Wildlife Guides, for the first time in the Kingdom and the Arab world, will contribute to the center of the wildlife guide profession to protect the natural resources of the reserves with standards that match international standards.
